Nanjing is poised to enhance its position as a global transportation hub, with the announcement made at the Nanjing Municipal Press Conference on February 25.
The third phase of Lukou International Airport's expansion will begin in the coming months. The project, part of the city's "International Comprehensive Transportation Hub Development Plan (2024-2035)", aims to significantly strengthen the airport's global connectivity and increase its direct intercontinental flight capacity.
In addition to this expansion, Nanjing will soon activate the civil aviation functions of Luhe Ma'an Airport. This move will make Nanjing the fourth city in China, after Beijing, Shanghai, and Chengdu, to operate two major airports.

Lukou International Airport and Luhe Ma'an Airport will meet the 4F and 4E classifications, respectively, which are global standards for airports capable of handling large aircraft with 4F being the highest classification.
The developments are expected to solidify Nanjing's role as a major gateway for global business and tourism.
