On January 2, the first working day of the new year, the CPC Nanjing Municipal Committee and Nanjing Municipal People’s Government convened the Science and Technology Conference and Industrial and Technological Innovation Advancement Meeting. The conference emphasized the need to thoroughly implement the spirit of the National Science and Technology Conference and the Jiangsu Provincial Science and Technology Conference, promote the deep integration of technological and industrial innovation, accelerate the building of a main carrier for an industrial and technological innovation center with global appeal, and create new drivers and advantages for Nanjing’s high-quality development. Zhou Hongbo, Secretary of the CPC Nanjing Municipal Committee, delivered a speech, while Mayor Chen Zhichang presided over the meeting. Long Xiang, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Nanjing Municipal People’s Congress ; Wang Liping, Chairman of the Nanjing Municipal CPPCC; Li Baiping, Deputy Secretary of CPC Nanjing Municipal Committee; and academicians of CAS and CAE Liu Yunjie, Zhu Shining, Chen Guang, and You Xiaohu were also in attendance.

Zhou pointed out that since the 20th CPC National Congress, General Secretary Xi Jinping had systematically elaborated on the theoretical connotation and practical pathways of the integrated advancements in technological and industrial innovation, providing sound guidance for us to cultivate and develop new quality productive forces. The deep integration of technological and industrial innovation is a call that we must answer for Nanjing to take greater responsibility and be a pacesetter.

Zhou proposed four points on “the integration of sci-tech and industrial innovation”.

First, by making the increase of high-quality science and technology supply as the basis, Nanjing is set to contribute more to the national innovation system.

Second, by taking the construction of modern industrial system as the purpose, Nanjing strives to build a national advanced manufacturing base and the eastern center for modern service industry.

Third, by putting a high priority on reinforcing the principal role of enterprises in innovation, Nanjing will continue to unleash the strength of market entities to boost industrial and sci-tech innovation.

Fourth, by using the application of achievements in science and technology research as a pathway, Nanjing will actively foster a top-level industrial innovation ecosystem.

Several significant achievements in science and technology were announced in the meeting.

These included the full completion of the China Environment for Network Innovation (CENI), the launch of the construction of the Nanjing branch of National Technological Innovation Center for Oil and Gas Geophysical Exploration, the release of the 2024 “Top 10 Scientific Achievements in Nanjing,” the “Demand List” and “Results List” for Nanjing’s commercialization science and technology achievements, and the first batch of integrated science and technology achievements commercialization platforms in Nanjing. The Nanjing Talent Group was also inaugurated. In addition, the launch of several projects related to the digital transformation pilot cities and application pilot projects was announced, along with the awarding of titles to a number of national level enterprises leading an individual field of the manufacturing industry and specialized and innovative "little giant" enterprises. A series of major provincial and municipal scientific projects received funding and awards.

The “4+N” strategic emerging industries fund, with a total scale exceeding 200 billion yuan, was formally established. The “Ning Qi Hang” enterprise listing digital service platform was launched, and the Nanjing Special Section in Shenzhen Stock Exchange Science and Technology Exchange Center was also inaugurated.
