Release time: 2024-04-01 Source: InternationalNanjing

Since the beginning of this year, Nanjing has been actively expanding airport functions in order to continuously facilitate customs clearance and deepen Sino-foreign exchanges and cooperation. From January to February, the number of the city's inbound and outbound trips reached 398,900, marking a 245.79% year-on-year increase.

Launch the Through Check-in Service

In January this year, the Nanjing Lukou International Airport officially launched the through check-in service for international flights. The inbound and outbound transfer passengers need only to check in for boarding and luggage at the departure station, go through customs procedures at the transit station, and collect all of their luggage at the final station. It means they are checked on all the onward flights and their bags are also through checked, which will reduce their customs clearance time by 20%.

Improve the Payment Service

For scenarios requiring frequent payments at the airport, signs and marks such as payment guides for overseas arrivals in the international arrival area have been put up. Besides, mobile payment guidance and consultation services are provided for inbound passengers while training for business owners catering to overseas consumers' payment needs is reinforced. Business owners are urged to inform/clarify available payment methods at prominent locations in their stores. Moreover, ongoing efforts are made to facilitate the departure tax refund policy at ports. Since the beginning of this year, 57 applications for tax refunds on purchases made by overseas visitors leaving China have been processed, involving an amount of 1.522 million yuan.

Continuously Open New International Routes

Nanjing has opened new passenger routes to over 20 cities and regions in Italy, Australia, and Singapore as well as Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. There are more than 350 international flights every week, and the inbound and outbound trips last year reached about 1.43 million in number, ranking 10th in the country. Additionally, plans are underway to launch the Nanjing-Kuala Lumpur flight route in the near future in order to build a more dense international exchange network.
