    TWINNING AGREEMENT SIGNED IN JANUARY, 2019

    ISRAEL

    Akko is a small city in northern Israel with an area of about 13.5 square kilometers and a population of about 50,000. With a long history of more than 5,000 years, Akko boasts its rich cultural heritage and abundant resources of scientific and technological innovation. As a walled seaport city, Akko was once the capital of the Kingdom of Jerusalem. In 2001, Akko was added to the World Heritage List by UNESCO and it is Israel’s first World Cultural Heritage Site. In August 2016, Qinhuai District of Nanjing and Akko established friendly cooperation ties. In January 2019, Qinhuai District of Nanjing and Akko established sister-city relationship.In recent years, Nanjing and Akko have continuously strengthened cooperation and exchanges in personnel exchanges, science and technology, culture, and other fields. In November 2016, the Mayor of Akko visited Nanjing upon invitation. In May 2018, Nanjing delegation visited Akko and the two cities jointly held the first Akko-Qinhuai Food Science and Technology Conference.
