Windhoek is the capital and the largest city of Namibia. Located on the middle highland, the city covers an area of 645 square kilometers and has a population of around 344,000. The area was first settled by the Hottentot and Herero tribes, then occupied by Germany in 1890 and South Africa in 1915. Windhoek is the country’s industrial and commercial center and transportation hub. The livestock product, textile and food processing industry are developed, and it is a world-famous distribution center of Karakur lamb skin. Nanjing and Windhoek established sister-city relationship in December of 2015.
