January 7, the National 973 Plan Program, the first future network technology research program of China was kicked off in Nanjing. The project was led by Academician Liu Yunjie of CAE and the core team working on the program consist of experts from Institute of Computing Technology, CAS, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Tsinghua Unviersity and Institute of Software, CAS

The project will explore new future internet system structure and study on its core concept, focusing on expansibility, dynamics and safety controllability issues. It can lay theoretical and technological foundation for future network development. National 973 Program is a key fundamental research development plan organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology. It aims at strengthening original innovation and solve important scientific issues during economic and social development of China at a higher level and in wider fields, thus to improve innovation and ability of solving key problems of the country

"Now Nanjing (China) Future Network Industrial Innovation Center (Future Network Valley for short) has developed plans accordingly," said Liu Yunjie. The Future Network Valley located in Jiangning Development Zone will be oriented as a leader of the industry in China and be built into a R&D base of future network fundamental theories and core technology, with international influence. After completion, the valley will be a base for experiments and development of National 973 Program and will become a fundamental platform for future network industry of Nanjing and even China.

Future Network Industry is a key next step of development identified by our country. And it is one of the most advantageous, potential and strategic emerging industries. The 13th Municipal Party Representative Conference specified that the future network industry will be fully supported as a strategic emerging industry.
