August 22nd, Japanese “Anti-Aggression and Pledge on Chinese-Japanese Friendship China Visiting Delegation” headed by the Chief Commissioner of Youth Commission, Japan-China Friendship Association and the former Japanese gas bomber maker Fujimoto came to the Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders on a trip of offering apologies.
After hearing the testimony of survivors of the Nanjing Massacre, Yang Cuiying and Zhang Guodong, Fujimoto san from Takehara City, Hiroshima County of Japan felt deeply guilty. He was a Japanese gas bomb maker, who was recruited to an arm-shop of Takehara to learn making gas bomb upon his graduation from primary school. But he was accidentally harmed by poison gas and suffered from sequela since then. After Japan surrendered, Fujimoto san reflected on his deeds and decided to attest the atrocities of Japanese army in China.
Zhe Chengshan, President of the Memorial Hall told the reporter that Fujimoto san is 84 years old. He was diagnosed terminal cancer and has got his stomach, duodenum and liver removed for treatment. But he still endeavors to improve Chinese-Japanese friendship with imaginable willpower.
Fujimoto san said that, wars tend to turn people to ghosts but it will be difficult to turn around. “I’m willing to go to different places of China to hear the testimony of war victims and offer my apology to the Chinese people till the end of my life.”
The Chief Commissioner said that they would endeavor to prevent reappearance of militarism. Then the delegation all stood up and bowed to the 2 survivors of Nanjing Massacre. (Yangtze Evening News) |
