"Construction of the Colored Glaze Pagoda and Site Park Phase I Project of Nanjing Dabaoen Temple will commence in the 2nd-half of this year and must be completed before end of next year," – it is required at the Motivation Meeting of Accelerating Deliverables of Cultural Industry. The reconstruction of Nanjing Dabaoen Temple has kicked off and will be completed before the 2014 Youth Olympic Games, which clarifies a lot of queries on the project.

Kong Li, director of Cultural System Reform and Development Office, Publicity Department, Nanjing CPC Committee disclosed that, the reconstruction will be done on the original site.  

Through planning adjustment and optimization, the Colored Glaze Pagoda and Site Park Phase I Project of Nanjing Dabaoen Temple is constructed on the original site. Phase I contains the Colored Glaze Pagoda and the Underground Palace. Now, archaeological studies have been done and the construction will commence in the 2nd-half year.。

On June 12th, enshrinement of the head bone sarira of Buddha of Nanjing Dabaoen Temple was grandly held in Qixia Temple. During the one-month enshrinement, nearly 200,000 person-times came to worship. This has expedited the reconstruction progress of Nanjing Dabaoen Temple. After completion, the sarira will be enshrined in the Colored Glaze Pagoda of Nanjing Dabaoen Temple forever.

With the facilitation of Sarira Enshrinement Ceremony, Nanjing accelerates the progress of reconstruction.

Themes of "Ming Dynasty Culture", "Buddhism Culture" and "Baoen (repaying an obligation) Culture'" have been confirmed for the Dabaoen Temple Cultural Park.

On such a basis, three highlights can be seen on the planning blueprint: "No.1 Temple of Sermon of China", "No.1 Colored Glaze Pagoda" and "No.1 Underground Palace Site".

Kong Li also expressed that, Dabaoen Temple will not only focus its theme on Baoen (repaying an obligation), but also on other traditional and modern cultures. (Yangtze Evening News)
