It is engraved on the Olympic history that the 1st Youth Olympic Games opened in Singapore on the evening of August 14th. Nanjing also moved a most tangible step for the 2nd YOG in 2014 – officially releasing the bidding invitation for China • Nanjing YOG Town Planning. Nanjing opens to the world to invite design companies all over the world with A-Class construction or planning qualifications, international reputation or successful experience in Olympic designs to devise Nanjing YOG Town.

The Proposal for planning of YOG Town has displayed that development of Nanjing “goes along with” YOG. A source from Hexi Branch of Nanjing Planning Bureau says that Nanjing Hexi New Town covers a total area of 56 square meters. Through 5-year construction, a central area of 5 square meters including Hexi CBD has taken initial form. There are already 2 transmeridional axes, respectively “Cultural Sports Axis” from Olympic Sports Center to Jiangbin (riverside) and “Commercial Axis” from Hexi Central Park to Jiangbin. By inviting world’s top level planning institutions to participate in designing, a main transmeridional axis of YOG will be built to match the world class youth event and a legacy of YOG will be left, which is YOG Village-International Style Block. Hexi New Town will ultimately become a modern new area with riverside features, as a city complex and core area connecting middle and southern districts of Nanjing.
