On August 13th, the delegation headed by Zhu Shanlu, executive chairman of the 2nd YOG Organising Committee, standing member of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and party secretary of Nanjing, who went to watch the opening ceremony of the 1st YOG on invitation, met Wong Kan Seng, deputy Prime Minister of Singapore. Wong warmly welcomed Zhu Shanlu and expressed his support to construction of eco-technology island, human resources training of Nanjing’s expatriates in Singapore and deeper cooperation of Nanjing and Singapore on economy, trade, high and new technology, scientific innovation, modern service industry, culture and education.

Zhu Shanlu firstly conveyed the compliment of Liang Baohua, party secretary of Jiangsu and Governor Luo Zhijun to deputy Prime Minister Wong and thanked him for supporting Nanjing-Singapore cooperation. He said that deputy Prime Minister Wong highly regarded and addressed himself to establishing friendly relationship with China, especially Jiangsu and Nanjing. He had been to Nanjing many times. Last May, he came to attend the signing and foundation-laying ceremony of Singapore-Nanjing Eco-Technology Island Program, which fully displayed his attention on this program. Nanjing is now working with Singapore to expedite the construction of the island and striving to make it a symbolized project of Sino-Singaporean cooperation. We really hope that Mr. Wong will keep supporting it.

Wong congratulated Nanjing on winning the hosting right of 2014 YOG and on the success of Trade Promotion Fair of Nanjing held in Singapore. He said, “YOG pulls Singapore and Nanjing closer. I believe Nanjing will host a successful YOG. Eco-Technology Island is a very important cooperative program. I hope it will develop well. And I believe the completion of this program will greatly facilitate development of Nanjing and Jiangsu.
