On August 15th, Zhu Shanlu, executive chairman of the 2nd YOG Organising Committee, standing member of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and party secretary of Nanjing, who went to watch the opening ceremony of the 1st YOG on invitation, met Ng Ser Miang, chairman of Singapore Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee.
Zhu expressed his appreciation to the great kindness of SYOGOC and wished the 1st YOG a success. He also extended heartfelt thanks to Chairman Miang and SYOGOC for their support on Nanjing’s bid for 2014 YOG. He said that, the opening ceremony of the 1st YOG held on the evening of 14th demonstrated scientific and technological innovation and cultural features of Singapore. Values of YOG were also fully displayed. The ceremony was exciting and very successful, which is worthy of being learnt by Nanjing. Chairman Miang is one of the initiators of the Youth Olympic Games and the major organizer and leader of the 1st session. He has contributed a lot to the popularization of Olympic spirits among the youth, which is historic. With his direct guidance and arrangements, Nanjing’s YOG practice team worked effectively in Singapore and gained a lot.
Ng Ser Miang warmly welcomed Zhu Shanlu and his delegation and again congratulated Nanjing on winning the bid for the 2nd YOG.. He said that Singapore faced big challenges when hosting the 1st YOG, in terms of projecting Olympic spirits and attracting the young people. The cultural education mode pioneered by the 1st YOG has been verified by the expert panel of IOC so the 2nd YOG will be prepared following this pattern. Nanjing has distinctive advantages with respect to facilities and operation. Meanwhile, hosting the YOG will bring huge opportunities to internationalization, industrial restructuring and economic development of Nanjing. He believed that the 2nd YOG held by Nanjing would be a success. (Nanjing Daily)
