March 7th, the CPC Nanjing Municipal Committee and Nanjing Municipal Government hold a party to welcome the overseas diplomatic corps of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Zhu Shanlu, member of Standing Committee of the CPC Jiangsu Committee and Secretary of the CPC Nanjing Committee delivers a speech. He thanks the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, overseas embassies and consulates and overseas envoys for the care they have been giving to Nanjing for a long time, especially what they did for the successful bid of the 2nd Youth Olympic Games. He hopes that they will continue giving support to Nanjing during its new round of development and the preparation for 2014 Youth Olympics.

In his speech, Zhu Shanlu, on behalf of municipal CPC Committee and government, pays sincere tribute to diplomats who stay in foreign countries for a long time, who work on the forefront of diplomatic work and who make remarkable contributions to China’s diplomacy. He specially extends appreciations to leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their care and support during Nanjing’s bidding for the Youth Olympics.

The secretary says, Nanjing is not only a beautiful, time-honored city, but also a dynamic modern metropolis. With the guidance of the central government, CPC Jiangsu Committee and provincial government, Nanjing is at the crucial stage of transforming development approach, delivering “3 Development” and initiating construction cycle for the Youth Olympic Games. International strategy on higher level, foreign cooperation in broader range are needed for achieving targets of taking a lead in the new round of development and hosting a high-level Youth Olympics. Nanjing’s integrative improvement should be realized on a higher level, in a broader range. We sincerely hope to receive care and support from leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and guidance from ambassadors and envoys. We expect you to provide good advices for Nanjing, direct the scientific development and Olympic preparation of Nanjing and act as a go-between. 

Wang Kaiwen, ambassador in Kyrgyzstan, team leader of Diplomatic Corps says in his speech that, Nanjing is a famous historic and cultural city of China, with advanced economy, stable society, profound cultural heritage and abundant talents. The purpose of this visit is to let staff of overseas embassies and consulates know more of national political, economic and social development, so that they will do their work better. They hope to understand the needs of Nanjing in the process of development and internationalization, so as to better promote Nanjing in the countries they work in and contribute to Nanjing’s “going-out”.
