On 1st, the 20th East China Fair was opened in Shanghai. 88 enterprises of Nanjing set up 176 booths in Shanghai New International Expo Center to promote themselves to international buyers. Wang Shouwen, member of the Standing Committee of CPC Nanjing Municipal Committee and vice-mayor came to the expo and encouraged Nanjing foreign trade export companies to produce products of self-owned intellectual property, high added-value and new technology, thus to dig the headspring of profits.
With the support of the Ministry of Commerce, ECP, a grand international economic and trade gathering in the region, is jointly organized by 9 provinces and cities including Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Nanjing and Ningbo. It is held from Mar. 1st to 5th in Shanghai, every year and exhibits mainly textile goods and light industrial products.
The fair this year covers an area of 103,500 square meters, contains 5,310 booths, and is participated by 3,376 enterprises, which is equivalent to the scale of last session. Nanjing takes 176 booths, over a half belonging to private enterprises. Many products presented by Nanjing team are quite competitive and attractive to foreigners. A lot of intentional orders were placed on the first day of expo.
Wang Shouwen paid specific visits to participating Nanjing enterprises and asked about their orders and production. He got the feedback that though production cost went higher and higher, there was an distinct increase of orders at the beginning of this year, and the production is in the process of rehabilitation.
