From June 29 to 30, the “2009 Yangtze Delta Area Overseas Chinese Federation (OCF) Cooperation Meeting” was hosted in Nanjing by Jiangsu Provincial OCF and undertaken by Nanjing Municipal OCF. Around the theme—“cohesion, unity, innovation, development”, wide discussions on the establishment of an OCF system for cooperation and communication in the Yangtze Delta area had been carried out and the consensus was reached. The meeting was attended by OCF leaders at the provincial level from Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Jiangxi, and those from provincial capitals in the Yangtze Delta area such as Nanjing, Hangzhou, Hefei, and Nanchang etc.

The Yangtze Delta is one of the regions with the strongest comprehensive power in China, which is of important strategic position and driving function. The strategic decision and plan drawn up by the country to promote the reform and opening up and the development of economic society of the Yangtze Delta area create a good opportunity for the OCFs within this area to increase communication and cooperation, complement with each other and have a joint development. All sides at the meeting agreed to establish a platform for cooperation and communication together and develop a lasting and stable friendly system. They will carry out friendly cooperation and communication on such aspects as industry, science & technology, foreign trade, business, tourism, urban construction, talents, higher education, and art & sports etc. They will extend the platform and enhance the OCF’s work and the scientific development in each area.
