A reporter learned from relative departments of Nanjing that No.2 line of Nanjing subway would start working on November 20. No.2 line will meet No.1 line of Nanjing subway in Xinjiekou.

According to the introduction by relative departments, No.2 line of Nanjing subway is 42.845 kilometers long and will be constructed during three periods. The first period project is from Wangjiacun to Maqun. It is 25.145 kilometers long with 19 stations, including 16 underground stations, 2 ground stations and an overhead station.

In the second half of 2009, residents can take No. 2 line of Nanjing subway. The second period project will extend to Xianlin Universities City and the third period project will extended to Banqiao area in Yuhuatai District.

In addition to Xinjiekou Station, No.2 line of Nanjing subway will add 5 underground stations in old city zone, that is, Hanzhongmen, Shanghai Road, Daxinggong, Yixianqiao, and Minggugong.

According to the introduction by experts, the safe doors will be used on the station. When the train pulls in, the safe door will be closed and form a glass wall, passengers can¡¯t be close to subway rails.

After the train pulls in, the safe door will be open and passengers can take and get off subway.
