A few days ago, the journalist learns from Jiangsu Transport Bureau that, backbone railway network with 250km/h speed limit will be constructed in Jiangsu to ensure the time space from any provincial city of Jiangsu to Nanjing is within 90 minutes.

It is introduced that, in 2010, railway construction of 40 billion RMB will be completed in Jiangsu, setting a highest record ever. This year, Jiangsu will not only make sure of Shanghai-Nanjing Inter-city Express Railway's open to traffic on July 1st, but also plan to construct a railway network with top limit of 250km/h to connect capital Nanjing and other provincial cities in Jiangsu.

Liu Dawang, secretary of the Party Leadership Group, Jiangsu Transport Bureau, director of Jiangsu Railway Office says, "It will take less than 2 hours from each provincial city to Shanghai; less than 1 hour from northern Jiangsu cities to Lianyungang." Recently, construction of Jiangsu Railways has shifted focus to northern Jiangsu. The economic status of Nantong in particular, will be greatly improved due to railway. People can go to Shanghai via the to-be-built Shanghai-Nantong Railway and go to Nanjing via Nanjing-Qidong Electric Railway which is being renovated. "Construction preparations will be ready by June and the project will commence in September. In the future, we will spend only 90 minutes coming from Nantong to Nanjing."
