It is reported by the High School Affliated to Nanjing Normal University that, Su Ziwei, a student in IB Experimental Class of that school recived an admission notice from the University of Pennsylvania and would be granted a scholarship of 30,000 USD per year.

Su is an American Chinese. She finished elementary school in Toronto, Canada and middle school in New York, USA. She gave up the chance of going to the best public high school in NY and came to study the IB courses at the High School Affliated to Nanjing Normal University.

Su Ziwei said that, “Studying in Nanjing will give me chances to know a lot of Chinese traditions such as Three Character Primer and ancient literary works like A Dream of Red Mansions and Strange Tales of a Lonely Studio.”

The girl said that due to her learning experiences in USA and Canada, she chose IB courseswhich are similar to overseas teaching pattern. She benefited a lot from the open and independent learning style from elementary school to high school.

“During the 3-year-time at the High School Affliated to Nanjing Normal University, I participated in social activities for over 150 times. And my voluntary service experience has become a major element for my application to University of Pennsylvania. I think they enrolled me and granted me scholarship because they thought highly of those experiences”, said by Su Ziwei. (Nanjing Daily)
