On 5th, more than 2700 Australian cows were shipped to Nanjing. This herd of Holstein cows couldn’t get used to to the coldness of Nanjing so they shivered and snivelled.
Importer for those foreign cows is Modern Farm (Group) Co., Ltd. In order to enlarge farming scale, the group improted totally 2772 cows from Australia, whose average age is between 13-17 months, and purchase price of each is at about 2100 US dollars.

 After preliminary check made by Nanjing Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, the herd was sent to Xinshengwei Port.

Staff from Nanjing Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau stated that, the herd would be quarantined for 45 days in a place in Jiangning and go through infectious disease inspection including tuberculosis, infectious tracheitis and infectious diarrhea through blood test. When their health is confimed, the herd will be shipped to the farming base.

According to the statistics of the bureau, it was rare to import foreign cows directly to Nanjing but in the last two or three years, more herds of foreign cows were imported. The herd improted by Modern Farm is the 5th batch going directly through Nanjing Port.
