How Foreign Children Spend the Children’s Day in Nanjing

On Children’s Day, the journalist went to several primary schools to have interviews with students from America, France, Japan, Korea, Germany, Canada, Indonesia, and Austria, etc. to talk about their festival plans.

“Hello, how are you?” In the activity hall of Henghai Kindergarten, Mia greeted the journalist. “My name is Mia. My mom is Chinese and my dad is Canadian. I’m five years old.” Mia made a self introduction at first.

When the journalist asked her about gifts she received on the Children’s day, Mia replied, “It’s a secret!” The little girl rejected to tell what the gifts were, but she told the journalist that she had already got the gifts. The little girl’s wish on the Children’s Day was very amazing, “我的愿望是希望妈妈快长大,赶上爸爸.(I wish mom could grow older and catch up with dad.)” Later on, the journalist finally got what she meant. Mia actually wanted to say “长高(get taller)” instead of “长大(grow older)”.

The four-year-old Robin is a mixed-blood child with blonde hair and white skin. His mother is from Taiwan while his father is from Germany. “I like dancing”, said Robin.

Teachers of the kindergarten told that they would hold a party in the afternoon of the Children’s day. Parents would all come to see their children’s performances. Though Robin was a little shy, he would put on two performances on the party. One is a song called “The Children’s Song”; the other is a short play named “Honesty” in which he plays a role of a student. (Orient Guardian)
