Dragon Boat Festival is a Chinese traditional festival. For foreign friends’ better understanding on Chinese traditional culture and Nanjing local customs, as well as Nanjing’s opening and harmonious atmosphere, News Office of Nanjing Municipal Government, Phoenix Publishing & Media Group, and Jiangsu Symposium of Education for Foreign Students co-hosted the activity—“Love in Zongzi at Phoenix Palace Hotel—Hundreds of Cultural Exchange Messengers in Nanjing Celebrating Dragon Boat Festival”. Foreign friends in Nanjing were invited to celebrate the festival together with Nanjing citizens.

The activity includes Zongzi wrapping competition, China traditional cooking display, Nanjing folk skills performance, and Chinese poem reciting, etc. Over 130 foreign friends from more than 20 countries attended and they enjoyed the festival atmosphere together with representatives of Nanjing cultural exchange messengers. It was a large stage to show Chinese traditional cultures on the spot. Cooks showed their super Chinese traditional cooking; folk craftsmen displayed paper cutting, bottle gourd painting, and clay sculpture, etc.; primary school students of the Nanjing Municipal Association of Educators had a singing performance on Chinese cultural essence; students of the China Traditional Wushu Training School also made performances of different Wushu styles; Nanjing Yun Brocade and magic tricks added more fun to the activity.

Nanjing hosts the “Join the Fun in Jinling—Foreigners in Nanjing Participating Cultural Activity” this year in order to further enrich foreign friends’ cultural life in Nanjing and promote Nanjing’s image in the world as well as raise Nanjing’s opening up degree and international reputation. The activity for Dragon Boat Festival was the prelude of the whole. (Nanjing Daily)
