Shi Wei, famous write living in the U.S., is a real Qinhuai daughter walking out from the cultural city—Nanjing. Now she lives in Los Angeles, engaging in editing, hosting and writing. Since 1980s, she has published over 3 million words worldwide. Recently, she came back to Nanjing—her hometown with her new book—“Red Wall and Magnolia”. A seminar about the book was held in the Keyi Bookstore on the Hunan Road. Shi Wei especially mentioned the great significance of the inspiring exploration of Chinese literature on local and immigrant literature.
The “Red Wall and Magnolia” is set up in a background of Nanjing and the U.S. Elegant and poem-like language and delicate psychological description are characteristics of Shi’s novels. This new work makes the readers infatuated with the smoothness and affection. In such a city with lust and coldness, in such an era with material love and frivolity, the novel is like a magnolia touching one’s heart. Plus, the creative structure and perspective of the novel both give the readers a new reading experience. (Yangtze Evening) |
