Jiangsu Gaochun Export-Oriented Agricultural Development Zone is located on the southwestern fringe of Nanjing, 50 km away from Nanjing Lukou International Airport and 90 km away from Xinshengwei Port of Nanjing, the largest river port in China. Its waterways are widely extended and ramified into the Yangtze River and the Tai Lake valley. Nanjing-Hangzhou Expressway and the Nanjing-Xuancheng railway line both run through Gaochun, making it easily accessible. Since it was established in 1995 with the approval of the Provincial Government, the Zone has increasingly improved its infrastructure by way of planning and carrying out construction from a high starting point and optimizing service environment.

The planning area for the Zone is 15 km2 and 9.04 km2 of which has been developed. The Zone has completed a total of RMB 517 million of fixed-asset investment for the whole society.

Agriculturally, the Zone gives priority to developing special aquatic products and edible mushrooms and meanwhile engages in development of ecological and sightseeing agricultural projects and fine processing of farm and sideline products. The three areas with distinctive features have taken shape in the Zone, that is, Yongshengwei Agricultural Science Pilot Zone, Tuanjiewei Ecological Breeding Pilot Zone and Aquatic Products Wholesale Market.

In the forthcoming 5 years, the Zone will seek intensive development and form the BT and medicine park, light industry and food processing park, electromechanical industry park and other industrial parks through integration.
