The LG Display (Nanjing) Co., Ltd. was a wholly-owned subsidiary of LGD (South Korea) Corporation founded on July 15, 2002 with a total investment of USD1.02 billion and a registered capital of USD353 million, as LGD's first LCM plant established overseas.
Located within the national-level Nanjing Economic and Technological Development Zone, the company is mainly engaged in the R&D, production and sales of LCD products, LED backlight modules and the corresponding auxiliary products as well as relevant after-sales services. Up to now, the company has built up three plants for large LCMs, its products covering many sectors like LCD, laptop and LCD TV. Since 2005, its production and sales volume have always constituted more than half of that of the whole LGD Group. It also has the largest shipments of single modules across the world at present.
As of Dec., 2011, the company holds a staff of 13,000 employees. It output over 90 million large LCMs and shipped out USD5.7 billion worth of products in 2011.
According to statistics from Displaybank, a professional panel display research company, LGD's 2010 large-sized LCM shipments took 25.9% of the global total, where the LCMs used in laptops ranked first worldwide for the consecutive 5th year.
