The First Batch of Belarus Beef Arrived in Nanjing

On February 9th, the first batch of Belarus frozen beef weighed 150 kg transported by Jiangsu Overseas Group Corporation was successfully imported and successfully entered Nanjing which marks the first time for Belarus beef to be imported in China. The Group also becomes the first meat processor enterprise in jiangsu to invest and set up plant overseas and it is expected to import 3,000 tons of Belarus beef annually in the future.

 
Sun Guofang, chief of Food safety Supervision Division of Jiangsu Inspection and Quarantine Bureau introduced that China carries out the designated port entry system for imported meat, and there are seven designated ports for imported meat in Jiangsu currently. Among them, beef is mainly imported from Australia, Canada, Brazil, Uruguay, USA, Argentina and New Zealand through Nanjing, Zhangjiagang and Lianyungang port.

 
Jiangsu Inspection and Quarantine Bureau reminds citizens that when buying imported beef, the qualified products shall be chosen, and when necessary, the inspection and quarantine certificate for imported goods issued by Inspection and Quarantine Department shall be claimed. In addition, the meat belongs to perishable food with strict shelf life. So, citizens should see it clearly when buying.
